Our work

Practical help towards a safer place to live

A suitable home can make everyday life more manageable. Finding one, moving into it and keeping it can involve different challenges.

ASH Foundation is being established to help people in Western Australia who are experiencing homelessness or serious housing hardship associated with disability.

Our first programme is planned around practical assistance, appropriate referrals and working with capable community partners.

Three areas of focus

Finding a way into suitable housing

We plan to help people understand options, prepare for housing enquiries and connect with appropriate organisations. The starting point will be the person’s circumstances, preferences and immediate needs.

Making a move possible

A move can bring essential costs and practical barriers. Subject to assessment and available funds, our intended assistance may contribute towards approved moving costs, essential household items or other barriers to taking up suitable accommodation.

Supporting a more stable tenancy

Settling into housing is an important beginning. We plan to work with people and suitable partners to identify practical issues, make relevant referrals and support a more stable housing situation.

Support shaped around the person

  1. 1

    Listen

  2. 2

    Understand the housing barrier

  3. 3

Agree on a practical next step

  4. 4

    Review what happens

Assistance will depend on eligibility, suitability, resources and the support available. A request will not guarantee a property, payment or tenancy.

Our initial plans do not include providing emergency accommodation or operating a property portfolio. Any future accommodation or development activity will require its own resources, approvals and governance.
